I can't believe that tomorrow will be October! We had a very busy, but fun last weekend in September.
On Friday evening, we had an impromptu party with our immediate neighbors. Even though the days are still warm, the evenings cool off as soon as the sun goes down. So, we decided to fire up the fire pit, and the adults enjoyed some adult beverages and good conversation, while the kids ran around in the dark with glow necklaces, looking for bugs :-)
Saturday afternoon, the girls were invited to a birthday party. After two hours of birthday party fun, we went home and went straight to our street party, which had been planned weeks ago. This time, all our neighbors got together for some food, drinks and fun. The kids stayed busy all evening with riding bikes, tag, hide and seek, looking for more bugs, etc. Every now and then they would come back for a drink, something to eat or some candy corn. We are so lucky to live on this street. It's a cul-de-sac, we have 15 families living here with 23 kids and 5 more on the way. Our previous neighborhood was older and most of the kids that lived there were teenagers. This neighborhood is new, so most of the families that live here are families with young children. Again, we are lucky to live here and have such great neighbors.
Today, we went to a fall/Halloween festival and even though it felt wrong to be walking around at a fall festival in shorts and a t-shirt, the girls had a great time. Here are some pictures:
Daddy took the girls on the ferris wheel. Jazzie was a little nervous at first, but then enjoyed the ride :-)
I really thought that the girls would NOT want to go on this ride, or would freak out in the middle of it, but they proved me wrong. After the initial shock of the thing plunging down, they just giggled and giggled.
I love the following series of pictures where Jazzie is trying to make Tahlia smile for the picture. As you can see, Talley was not too happy about having her picture taken:
"Come on, Tahlia. Smile!"
"Maybe I'll give you a little tickle"...
