Jazzie came home from the hospital today. Yesterday was miserable (lots of pain and nausea), but today is a lot better. The surgery went well, although the surgeon had to resort to putting in the back-up device, because the first one did not go in smoothly. Jazzie also has a little bit of nerve damage on the left side of her face (this is always a risk with a cochlear implant surgery and was my biggest fear during the first surgery and again with this one). However, it is very minor and the doctors are confident that in a couple of months, her nerve will have strengthened enough for it to be back to normal. For now, Jazzie just has a slightly lopsided smile ;-)
Here are some pictures from before the surgery:
Her ear was marked to make sure they would implant the correct ear:
Right after surgery:
She wasn't even able to keep a Popsicle down :-(
Obviously starting to feel better:
Ready to go home!
Thanks for all your good thoughts and well wishes, I appreciate them all...
