Have you tried acupuncture? It really does help with pain, swelling, and healing. The needles are the with of a hair, nothing like a hypodermic.

I don't know if you remember but when I was training for my first marathon I fell and sprained my ankle. I did water running for a couple of weeks to help keep up the running. While it isn't the same it is a great workout and will keep you moving.

You can and will do this. I know it!

Oh Sandra, I'm sorry to hear your news. I know you will be doing everything you can to get back to full strength. Wishing you a speedy recovery from Scotland UK. D

Major bummer about the knee. However, glad to hear you are doing what the PT suggested. Might even try that run in the pool to keep your strength up! Keep your spirits up as well. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I know you are really disapointed! But, PLEASE take care of your knee....seriously, I would hate for you to do permanent damage to it. And your training has not been for nothing if you can't do the marathon. Don't even go there. I say all this in love......prayers for healing. Please take care of yourself. No race is worth chronic knee problems

Sandra, my husband had a similar setback while training for his first marathon. He was able to rest and heal somewhat, and he did complete his marathon! While he wasn't as fast as he had initially hoped to be, he experienced great fulfillment in being able to finish. I wish you quick healing!

Sandra, I'm sorry about your knee injury. I've just gone through a serious ordeal with my own knee and had my second surgery for it 2 weeks ago. It turns out I had a torn meniscus which was identified during the first surgery. It's been extremely swollen and painful for 10 months. I wasn't training for a marathon so I can't imagine how difficult this may be for you, but I can relate to the horrible feeling of having a physical problem that's difficult to recover from. I hope you get some resolution very quickly.

Sending healing vibes your way. I haven't got anything else to say cos this has got to hurt not just physically but emotionally as well.
Make sure you do everything you are told to and fingers and toes are crossed for you here.
