As most of you know by now, I am planning on running the half marathon in the 2012 Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon on behalf of Ohio Valley Voices and in honor of Jazzie.
Ohio Valley Voices is a nonprofit oral deaf school that teaches deaf children to listen and speak. Everyday the school reaches out to a population of children who would ordinarily be confined to a world without sound or voice; Ohio Valley Voices opens their world to both.
As you know, the school has changed Jazzie’s life and we will be forever grateful for everything they have done for Jazzie and our family. Running 13.1 miles is just a small thing that I can do to try and repay them. I ran the full marathon last year and through donations from friends and family I was able to raise almost $1,200 for Ohio Valley Voices. I cannot express how thankful I am to those who donated on my behalf. I am once asking for a donation in support of the school and the students. But this year I am not doing it alone! This year I am doing it with my girls. Jazzie and Tahlia will run in the Flying Pig Kids Marathon the day before I run my race. This year I am part of an awesome team :-)
