We spent the first part of our trip in Winnie's hometown of Siu Lam, which is not far from Guangzhou. We stayed in Winnie's family's home and hung out with her parents, brother, cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Winnie's family was extremely welcoming, kind and hospitable and we really enjoyed spending time with them. We saw quite a bit of her hometown and our favorite way to do that was by rickshaw :-)
I love Winnie's protective "arm-seatbelt"!
Along with riding around town in a rickshaw, we visited a temple...
Cooling off by the only fan in the temple ;-)
Winnie's aunt treated us to a massage which was very much appreciated!! I have never had the kind of massage I received that day. Matt, Winnie, Winnie's brother, her cousins, her aunt and I were in a private room where we served tea and fruit. They massaged our feet, our lower legs, neck, upper back, shoulders and face. It was extremely relaxing and towards the end I was almost asleep.
Alex stayed behind at the house so that the girls could swim.
From what I understand, Winnie's parents filled up their pool just so that we could use it and Tahlia in particular really appreciated that! She spent a lot of time in there perfecting her flip with Matt.
Our time here in Winnie's hometown was the most relaxation we had during our trip. As I mentioned in my previous post, things got very busy after we moved on, but we really enjoyed our stay here!
Coming up... Tahlia's orphanage visit.
