Crochet

I vividly remember my grandmother teaching me how to crochet. To this day it is one of my favorite past times, so it's been nice to see my daughter discover that she really enjoys it as well...

Painting

Just some pictures of the girls painting this past weekend:

A project

So I saw this project in Family Fun Magazine and I knew the girls would enjoy it:

We mixed some water and cornstarch until we had a nice glue:

Then the girls cut pieces of yarn:

They had a great time dipping the yarn in the glue and placing them inside cookie cutters:

After placing the yarn (the girls used a LOT of it), you carefully remove the cookie cutters and let the shapes dry. We dried them in a low temperature oven for about an hour....

After they came out they were rock hard and the girls were able to use them as decorations :-)

The three of us gave this craft a thumbs up. We had all the supplies already on hand and even though the glue was kind of messy, it cleaned up very easily since it was just cornstarch. We will be making these again with different colors and different shapes really soon :-)

Time to be crafty

So the girls made these adorable ladybug flower pots and I thought I would share.

We started out with a plain flower pot and saucer:

 We painted the pot red and the saucer black:

After we let it dry, we used pom poms dipped in black paint to make dots on the pot:

Then we cut eyes out of paper and made antenna's out of black pipe cleaners:

Tada!

Sidewalk-chalk Art

Jazzie was busy making a portrait of Tinkerbell with her sidewalk chalk the other night:

She used the tiny charm on Tahlia's flip flop as a guide:

The finished product:

I wish I had a picture of it without the shadows, since now the rain has removed it forever :-(

A "craft"

We are on snow day number two today. Normally I LOVE snow days, but since I am still not feeling great, I am not able to do much with the girls, so it makes things a bit more difficult. Luckily, the girls are pretty good about playing together and doing crafts in the basement. Yesterday they spent quite a bit of time in their craft room. I heard lots of giggling and laughing and after a while they came upstairs to show me the "craft" they made:

 

What is this, you might ask?

Hmmm.... their boobies are quite saggy. I sure hope they didn't use mine as inspiration ;-)  

Water colors

The girls are home because of the snow. It has been snowing since last night with no end in sight. I wouldn't be surprised if we have another snow day tomorrow. I am still pretty uncomfortable with quite a bit of pain in my left incision, but I'm doing a little better every day. I wish I was feeling better so that I can do fun things with the girls like baking and doing crafty things, but right now I just can't. However, I did get the water colors out, gave the girls some coffee filters and let them go to town.

 
 
 

After the coffee filters dry, we will turn them into flowers or butterflies.

 

Bendaroos

The girls got Bendaroos for Christmas. They are so much fun!

I am always on the lookout for different crafts and I really like these. They are easy to manipulate, yet sturdy. They are easily separated after twisting them together and they provide hours of fun. You can't go wrong!

It's because instead of sitting in front of the tv or computer, they are being creative and making things like this: 

 

Trick or Treat bags

Last night the girls made some bags that they will take when Trick-or-Treat time comes. I got some glow-in-the-dark fabric paint and told them to let their imagination go wild. And so they did:

The girls started out on the conservative side, but they quickly decided to go from drops to blobs of paint...

 

I on the other hand went for a more demure look:

 

I don't think Jazzie is going for the "less is more" technique here:

 

I am glad the girls used their imagination; they had a great time and with all the glow-in-the-dark paint they are sure to be seen on Halloween Night ;-)
